Because Life is too Short

Burtingy sittingA really simple post.  We are where we are due to non-action.

I’m starting to wonder if grant, volunteer, job, procurement, internship and other types of applications bite. We are afraid of applying to everything! Rapid heartbeat, doubt, fears, delays and postponements, doubts, chatterbox in the head, rejection, do I deserve this, what would people say, am I good enough thoughts invade the mind. As Marianne Williamson puts it, it takes energy to fail, thoughts require energy.

Fear paralyzes us, the number one killer of dreams, visions and purposes.  Ask anyone you know that’s carrying around an unborn dream in his or her stomach. That dream is probably collecting a pension or is a member of a retired association.

I watched Mother pigeon on my balcony sit on her egg until they hatched. She sat on them even after hatching. She sat next to them after 2 weeks and then she visited them during the day. I watched the two baby birds stand on the chair and flap their wings only. They actually took turns watching each other!

They looked down and around the chair strategizing their launch for a few days and then they jumped.  The birds then flew off the balcony a week later.

The software application died not as a result of failure but as a result of fear. You never heard her beautiful voice, all because of fear.  It may take us longer to find cure for HIV all due to fear.

The next time you feel fear just say to yourself, Life is too Short and do it. Something positive of course! 🙂

Jump into Action!

Jump into Action!

Want to take a nice stretch on the train and hum but people would think you’re weird? Life is too Short, just do it.

Wanna apply for pastry class but think people would wonder what this 52 year old is doing here? Life is too Short, just do it.

Want to register your business but ‘oh Gawd, ah fright-tun’ Life is too Short, just do it.

Now please stop smothering your gifts and talents and dreams due to fear. We need you. Step out of your comfort zone and do your part.

Don’t let your vision crush you either. Take it one step at a time. Just calling Corporate Affairs to know the cost of registering your business brings you one step closer.  Don’t belittle the significance of your baby steps.  With baby steps, you don’t have to jump yet, you can start by flapping your wings in one spot like the baby bird.

The people you admire took steps despite their fears.  There was no magic pill just a wobbly first baby step. Start admiring you and just do it. You will eventually live according to your maximum potential in your spiritual, physical and emotional strength. Cut the umbilical cord from your dreams Because Life is Too Short!

To end with one of my favourite quotes in which I now live the power in each sentence …

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson
