The Unstable Realm

I sat in the Curepe car at the short drop taxi stand at Curepe waiting to exit.

I was having an enlightening conversation with Dexter, the taxi driver, when something he said caused me to become very aware and I had a 5 second experience of daze, just staring at the people passing by.

Dexter and I were talking about life decisions, education, hard work and the advice he gives to his 16 year old son. And how he missed being hit by a car by just 1 minute. We started chatting because I asked him how is he enjoying the books I saw on his dashboard and in the space by the gearbox- a James Patterson piece and Dan Brown’s the Lost Symbol.

Amongst the things we spoke of, he said it all comes down to “this” as he pointed to his head. He said he loves to read and learn more and that there is a difference between a goal and an expectation, the latter which he avoids because it causes feelings of disappointment. From his curious enthusiasm, I felt he would’ve appreciated some book recommendations. So I wrote the following list of authors/books on his little notebook as he continued to talk:

1. Napoleon Hill
2. Earl Nightingale
3. Earl Shoaf
4. As a man thinketh
5. Rich Dad Poor Dad
6. The Richest man in Babylon
7. The Power of Now- Eckhart Tolle
8. Think and Grow Rich
9. Kevin Trudeau – Your wish is your command
10. Neville Goddard
11. [don’t recall lol]

Now back to my moment of daze where I stared at at the people passing by, now with a different set of eyes. I honestly can’t even remember what he said that caused me to pause. But in that very moment I felt the strong truth that we are living in an unstable realm/universe. We live in a world of polarity and the only stable thing is love because love has no opposite. We are born and we die, we have and we don’t have, negatives and positives, constant change and so on. I knew that but today I felt it.

The only absolute that we have brought into this realm is love. And more so lately, I personally take caution with how much energy and power I give to the unstable. We are one body but in this realm it is as if we each create our own world entirely based on our individual perception of the polarities. And THAT is what causes life problems. But with knowledge of the unstable realm and the absolute truth, we should realise that at our core, we are above the polarity (while working within its universal limitations such as gravity of course!) and not in essence subject to it. Not recognising this would cause us to continue in turmoil, pain, stress and insanity if affected by the negative end of the polarities. We cry out ‘life is not fair’ and it is not, only love is fair. However even within life’s polarities we can learn the laws to be favoured and live on the positive end of the polarities. I may need to give due justice to this in another article but that’s it for now. I too am still learning.

I laughed at the delight he expressed about speaking with “someone like me” and that I am an angel. I told him he is one too. He helped me to discover or experience a deeper truth and that itself is peace.

I went to Curepe to look at an apartment, which I didn’t take.  But clearly my trip there was to have a chat with Dexter, may you be blessed Sir!

Ok, I remembered what he said – he said he learned that ‘life is an up and down thing, just up and down.

  1. Modupe, Thank you Shalisha. This mastery of divine introspection of connection through art is indeed enlightening.
