Do You Walk on Mornings?

Morning Walks - Good Morning!

This past week has seen an early morning me. I am a morning person by nature but my schedule has been so off that I haven’t seen the sun rise in a while.

I’m not sure if it’s the extra dose of B-12 or the miracle that I’ve been praying for, I’ll like to think it’s the latter. Either way, I’ve been waking at 3:30am most days. I’ve also been hitting the pavement as Tony Robbins puts it. There was a time where I tried to ‘trick’ my brain. We’re just going for a walk I would say, and then I’ll pick up the pace and before you know it I’m jogging and there will be times in the jog that I’ll start running. My brain in that sense doesn’t mind being tricked because it feels good throughout and even after the workout.

This week I didn’t set out to trick my brain but I’ve been going for walks in the morning after about 2 hours of studying to get some fresh air and to clear my mind. Early mornings are so awesome because the air is clear, the place is quiet and the only friends out are birds, chickens, lizards and monkeys. Yes, I live in a jungle of sorts.

Today was a little different. A few days ago I thought of just going out for a walk, no gym clothes, no sneakers. I thought errhm, that might be a bit weird. Why is this woman walking the streets so early on a morning alone? Well, today, I didn’t care. I woke again after 3am, studied and saw the dark sky with a slight hue where gold meets blue and decided it was time (Lion King’s Mufasa voice). LOL.

Morning Walks - Yummy Sun!

I dropped the books, put water on the stove and then took a shower. Sweat pants with a t-shirt, my brown “Rasta slippers” and a mug of coffee I went. I was a little hesitant but I wanted to do what I see the old folks doing. I thought it might look normal if I bought a newspaper from the guy on the bicycle and even considered how much money it would cost. I was like stop it!

It’s funny that I was mostly worried about my neighbours thinking I’ve gone off. Why was I so confined? Silly. The dogs that were barking initially stopped; maybe they too were wondering what the heck is she doing? They simply looked at me with curious eyes and ears. Haha. I walked the avenues, even down to the gas station that’s now closed for renovations.

It was then that the walk felt particularly good! I felt like I was walking with glory, God, stillness, the indescribable because it was just me. I had clear thoughts and new ideas came. It just felt light, peaceful, no inhibitions, freedom type good. It’s the experience of doing things alone that helps you to hear the ‘silent’ you inside. Helps you to hear the “I Love yous” coming from within. Even feel a loving embrace.

Morning Walks - Weird yay!

The more people think I’m weird, the more freedom I have.  Isn’t it amazing what we’ll do if no one was judging? Can you stop judging yourself? Ahhh, the feeling of floating on the sees and smiling with the clouds.

Have you taken a walk alone lately? It doesn’t have to be early morning but do some things alone. Go on a date with you, sit in the mirror and talk (without fear that it’s crazy). What are you afraid of? Dig deeper.

Life is too short to play hide and seek, just seek.
